Ubisoft, one of the largest video game developers and an industry leader announced that they won’t be abandoning the last generation of consoles. That means that players can expect to see more Ubisoft developed games on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Fans of Ubisoft developed games have approved of this announcement as the majority of them own one of the two consoles from the last generation. The new consoles cost a large amount of money and the majority of games currently can’t afford to purchase the Playstation 4 or Xbox One.
Ubisoft released a statement on their twitter account saying, “We have been receiving criticism from fans saying that we won’t continue to make games for the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 after this year. We would like to ensure those players that we have plans to create new games for both consoles of the last generation for the next five years. Afterwards we will solely focus our efforts on the Xbox One and Playstation 4. We would never abandon the majority of our fans.”
Currently, Ubisoft has plans to release a new Assassins Creed for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this year. Watch Dogs is also a new game being developed by Ubisoft that is also being released on both of the last generation consoles. Five years is a long time for a studio as large as Ubisoft to create games, players can expect at least eight more games from Ubisoft for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
